Picked up a Czech VZOR58 back in Dec 07-it's the Czech's answer to the Kalashnikov during the cold war. The Czech's unkike every other Warsaw pact country didn't make a AK copy for their military-they used a homemade design the VZOR58. The VZOR or VZ58 looks a lot like a AK but the only common part it uses is the 7.62x39mm round as does the AK-nothing else is exchangeable. The VZ58 is a milled reciever weapon the weights about the same as a stamped reciever AK-it's light but the milled reciever adds a lot of strength to the design. It has a last round bolt hold open so mags exchanges are faster then a AK, and most people find it handles better then a AK. Design is more robust then the M 16, but not as heavy duty as the AK. I've fired off 1,000 rounds out of mine-100% reliable, Used my 1st back on the 1980's when I was in the military-always found it an interesting design. Somthing different then a AK or a M16.
Have fired off over 2,000 rounds out of my VZ58, and it's been 100% reliable-brother shot it over Christmas and was very impressed-he's getting one now-and I'm picking up a second.
I've had my second VZ 58 over a year now-over 6,000 rounds out of both 100% reliable-I've not shot a single round of 7.62x39mm out of a AK since I picked up the VZ-they're that good.
